I am sharing a recap of the year 2023 and my goals for 2024. As it’s a bright and shining new year, I always take this opportunity to look back, see what I have achieved, and set my intentions for the coming year. As you set your goals for 2024, I would love to hear about them in the comments. Also, if you’re looking for support for January, join our 21-day challenge here!
Looking back on the year, I find it easy to recognize all the things I struggled with and all the things I set out to do but didn’t accomplish. The year 2023 was full of great highs and challenging lows. After the period of 2020-2021, I really learned to embrace the good sides and enjoy them, because there are always setbacks, and I try to remember that everything is temporary.
Travel and Personal: Travel was a big highlight this year. It had been my dream for so long to take the girls to Italy, and we finally did it!! We had an incredible Disney Mediterranean cruise to Italy and Greece and introduced the girls to my favorite place in the world (Positano). I ate chocolate croissants every day (in addition to so much Italian food and wine), played with the girls in the sea of Mykonos, and we shopped and explored to our hearts‘ content. The good news is that they are fully on board the Europe train and are already asking when we can go back. We also went to Disneyland for Dance the Magic a few times, a Disney Baja cruise to Mexico and San Diego, and enjoyed stays at Miraval Tucson, Mt. Lemmon, the Great Wolf Lodge, and the Fairmont Scottsdale. We also saw Taylor Swift – Liv’s absolute favorite. I started singing with the Tucson Symphony again, and it has been so freeing for my soul. After a few years off, it feels so good to be back. Our director is just amazing, and I look forward to it every week. I feel blessed to have gone through another year with our group of friends. Friends in Tucson who have truly become like family. We have family dinners, travel together, and whenever we talk about moving, we decide we can’t do it because we love our friends here too much (and would miss our Tucson family!). It’s been quite a wild year with the great eye saga, but I am SO grateful that it is under control *knock on wood.* At the moment, I was so scared and devastated, I could never imagine going out hiking or I started doing hot yoga again – and now I know it was an opportunity to learn A LOT about eye care and gut health. I will soon post an update on all these things and what the current routine looks like.
Professional Summary: This little blog and podcast have had a good year. After a few years of low traffic, our SEO efforts (and our SEO team working hard behind the scenes) have finally started to increase blog traffic. The podcast reached 500,000 downloads, which is a major milestone in the podcast world. I take a more casual approach to the podcast, so it’s still astounding to me that it ranks in the top 0.5% of podcasts. As for sponsorships, this year I worked with a company I admire and love: NOW Foods. I am grateful for their continued partnership and for further collaboration in 2024. I scrolled through my inbox to look for sponsored post opportunities for 2023, and there were over 200 in there, at least 20 of which were from big companies with equally big budgets. These also applied to companies and products that do not align with my values or sell products I don’t use or like. I still stick to my values here and will never promote a company on the blog that I don’t 100% love and support. I am also grateful for affiliate partners, including Nutrisense, EquiLife, IHP, Sakara, HigherDOSE, Organifi, Aviron, Daily Harvest, Pvolve, and to everyone shopping through my links. It directly supports our family (and helps keep this little blog running), and I greatly appreciate it. I told myself I would dedicate more time to Beautycounter this year… I didn’t. I have still been working on it behind the scenes (and my incredible VA has been a huge help), and it’s still been a significant source of income for me, but I definitely feel like I dropped the ball. It’s one of my goals to re-engage with it this year, as the products and the company are great (and so is our team!). I completed my Level 2 IHP certification and was able to support 1:1 clients in new ways through functional testing and specific protocols. I look forward to expanding on this in 2024.
Professional Goals: Lead over 200 friends through our Community Detox in January and continue to expand my 1:1 coaching practice. If you’re interested in joining the detox, I would order your kit today! You can choose the 7, 14, or 21-day option and get 10% off with the code FITNESSISTA10. If you join, email me at gina@fitnessista.com with the subject DETOX, so I can invite you to our Facebook group. Start posting videos on YouTube again. My poor YouTube channel has been neglected for so long, but this year I want to start posting non-fitness-related content like shopping trips, fitness/biohacking product reviews, and more. If you have any requests, please let me know! Continue to expand the Fit Team and the platform as a center for holistic wellness. Fit Team is full of progressive strength training plans, workout videos, recipes, and meal plans. I want to add more to the platform (live videos, expert interviews, hormone guides), create programs (that’s one of the things I enjoy most), and support our great members. Continue to be consistent in blog and content creation. I’m still here Mo-Fri – and thanks to your survey suggestions, I have so many post ideas for the new year. Complete the High Performance Health certification. I always like to start the new year with a new certification on the horizon, so I’m looking forward to working on HPH and sharing biohacking and longevity strategies with clients and here on the blog.
Health Goals: Complete the CBO protocol! It will be a breeze, but I really want to continue my healing journey and know that this is the best next step. I will miss garlic and onions until I can have them :((( Continue with the exercises that make me feel the best: sauna blanket, PEMF mat, daily walks with Maisey, time for prayers and meditation, 7-9 hours of sleep, and meal planning. Time with friends, yoga classes, dates with the Pilot, and time with family.
Personal: Bible in a year. I’ve always wanted to do this, and now is the perfect time for it. Continue to work on being the best mother, wife, friend, daughter, and sister I can be. Lead with love, practice patience (even when I feel like my patience tank is empty), and show the people I love how much they mean to me. Put the phone away more and be present. To plan fun adventures and support and care for the people around me.
So, tell me, friends: Do you have goals for this year? What made you proud in 2023? What is a professional, health, and personal goal for 2024? Wishing you a happy, healthy, and joyful new year! xoxo Gina
